The Barbarian from Diablo 3 was probably the main reason why I fell in love with sexy bikini armor designs in 2012! I’ve cosplayed already a few of Wei Wang’s designs and his Barbarian artwork was just as inspiring as all the others. And even though I was not able to portrait the character just as massive and mighty as in the original reference, I just enjoyed this kind of costume. My Barbarian costume was comfy and had great movement, but I looked also badass, sexy and had so much power! In addition, bikini armors require less materials, are faster to craft and easy to store! A perfect costume and the reason why so many bikini armor project followed afterwards!
The Barbarian was also the first time I’ve worked with the legendary thermoplastic material Worbla. It comes in plastic sheets and can be easily cut with scissors and shaped with heat. Worbla was THE thing around 2013 until 2018 or so and so many cosplayers used it for their project. This costume was also the turning point for my own crafting techniques and was also the inspiration of my very first tutorial book. I’m also still very attached to it. I’ve actually sorted out quite a few of my costumes during a move, but I think the Barbarian is a costume I could never give away. It changed so much in my life and I wouldn’t be the person I am without this cosplay!
