I love the world, gameplay and armor design in Guild Wars 2. Being a cosplayer, I obviously also really wanted to created something epic from the game. The Norn Warrior was one of my favorite armor sets and I was especially excited to create a massive sword for this costume. The tricky part was the transportation though: I knew the costume would turn out massive. Still, I wanted to find a way to pack it in a single suitcase and travel the world with it.
I finished this project in spring of 2014. It took me a few weeks to build every single part from scratch and I’m really happy with the result. The whole armor was made out of Worbla and painted with Acrylics . To keep the costume as small as possible for my suitcase, I actually made the horns of the helmet detachable with screws. In addition, I managed to separate the giant great sword into 3 individual pieces. It was quite challenging to figure out how to break everything down, but at the end I was super happy with the solution. Thanks to all those screws I was able to wear the Norn Warrior cosplay in the US and at a few international conventions.
