For the new release of Acheron in Honkai: Star Rail, Hoyoverse asked to bring the character’s massive Lighting Katana to life. However, I instantly fell in love with the design of Acheron herself and decided to create most of the costume as well! A fancy cosplay transformation video was just too tempting! As you might know though, Hoyoverse characters are always a huge challenge. Their their outfits are covered with tiny details, have tons of color gradients and gravity defying physics.
My husband Benni and I spent 3 weeks to sew the top, jacket, armor and shorts of the costume. We also built Acheron’s colorful Katana and its scabbard. Everything is sewn from scratch using a trusty Brother Sewing machine. For the sword and scabbard used mostly EVA foam and it turned out GIGANTIC.
