Grace Howard from Zenless Zone Zero was an incredible fun project! I instantly fell in love with the urban and futuristic street style design of the game and was super excited when Hoyoverse asked me to bring my favourite character to life! Usually, my costumes are also pretty huge, uncomfy and take forever to put on. Grace however was the perfect convention costume: Comfy, easy to put on and she has one million pockets!
Even though, her costume looks simple on the first sight, it actually took forever to do create her clothing and all the bits and pieces. I mostly used different faux leathers and spandex fabric to sew her whole outfit from scratch. Getting the all the colors right was actually pretty challenging and we used our laser cutter a lot to cut out all the tiny details. My husband Benni also 3D modeled, printed and painted several pieces like Grace’ glasses, nails, buckles or grenades to get really every element right. Finally I used some good old EVA foam to finish the whole outfit with her iconic nail gun.
Benni, me, our lovely wig stylist @krystl_cosplay and our crafting support @artcorecosplay worked for 5 weeks on the costume and are super proud of the result! Please check out the full Youtube video to see how the whole costume was made.
